Mi Youne Kim

Marimba One is the most sincere instrument for me. It reacts sensitively to all my emotions and passion.

Born in Seoul, Korea in 1980, Mi Youne Kim captivates listeners with her exuberant and heartwarming music.

Mi Youne began percussion at the age of 16; soon after, as a freshman in the Music Faculty of Chung Ang University, Mi Youne Kim played as newcomers' representative. She entered at the Academic Percussion Ensemble - the leading percussion group in Korea - playing regularly with the Chung Ang University Percussion Ensemble, and performing at the university alumni association. Following in 2007, Mi Youne won the Universal Marimba Competition and Festival held in Belgium. In addition to the First Prize, she won the competition's Public Prize and the Best Performance Prize, turning the world's attention to her talents.
