About the ZMF

Zeltsman Marimba Festival, Inc. is the brainchild of Artistic Director/marimbist Nancy Zeltsman. It is an annual, two-week event that occurs during July in different locations.

With a focus on concert marimba performance, its mission is two-fold. First, the festival brings together 35 to 40 marimbist/participants from around the world in a private seminar environment in order for them to exchange ideas and share their music. Secondly, the festival celebrates its world-class faculty performing on marimba (and vibraphone) in a series of concerts open to the public.

The music usually spans a range of styles from classical to contemporary, jazz and folk music. By changing venues from year to year, the ZMF is able to bring its concert series to various communities with the hope of encouraging a greater appreciation for the marimba as a concert instrument.
