Qiuchen Wang
Qiuchen Wang is a versatile percussionist and passionate educator based in Seattle. With over a decade of teaching experience, she has inspired students of all ages through creative and personalized instruction. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree from the Xinghai Conservatory of Music in China, and later received a Master of Music in Percussion Performance from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts with a scholarship. She continued her Graduate Diploma in Performance studies on scholarship at McGill University and Advanced Certificate in Performance at the University of Toronto, working with renowned percussionists including John Beck, Fabrice Marandola, Ben Reimer, Shawn Mativetsky, Aiyun Huang, Beverly Johnston, and John Rudolph.
Qiuchen has served as principal percussionist with the Seattle Philharmonic Orchestra and is frequently invited to adjudicate competitions and festivals across the U.S. and China. Her performance experience spans orchestral, solo, and contemporary repertoire, with appearances across North America and Asia.
She is a recipient of several honors, including PASIC 2016 (as a recipient of the Cloyd Duff Scholarship), and the Atlantic Music Festival 2018 (as a fellowship recipient). In 2019, she served as a professional judge for the Guangdong International Percussion Art Festival.
Many of her students have earned placements in top youth orchestras such as the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Bellevue Youth Symphony Orchestra, or achieved outstanding results in international music exams including RSL (Rockschool) and ABRSM. As a dedicated and empathetic teacher, Qiuchen tailors her approach to each student’s pace of development, using music as a bridge to nurture creativity, confidence, and artistry.
