Xiaochi Zhang

Xiaochi Zhang, a distinguished Chinese percussionist and composer, currently serves as the Principal Percussionist and Percussion Director at the Central Conservatory of
Music Symphony Orchestra. He is also the Artistic Director of LBP International Music Publishing and is a co-founder of the Strike East Percussion Ensemble. Xiaochi
won the first prize in both the Amateur Youth Group of the First National Wind Percussion Competition and the Professional Youth Group of the Second National
Youth Percussion Competition.

Born in 1990 into a musical family in Xi'an, Shaanxi province, Xiaochi started his musical journey by learning the piano at a young age. In 2001, he systematically
studied Western percussion at the Central Conservatory of Music with Associate Professor Gang Liu. In 2009, he was accepted into the Bachelor Program at the
Central Conservatory of Music, specializing in Western percussion. A pivotal moment occurred in 2010 when he participated in an exchange program at the Royal Danish
Academy of Music in Denmark, studying under Professor Gert Mortensen and successfully performed a solo recital. After completing the exchange program in
2011, he resumed his studies at the Central Conservatory of Music. During his time there, he presented solo concerts and collaborated with national orchestras, including
the prestigious National Centre for the Performing Arts. Xiaochi had the privilege of collaborating with world-renowned conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Asher Fisch,
and Mariss Jansons.

In 2015, Xiaochi Zhang was accepted into the Master's program in percussion at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, studying with Professors Mortensen, Johan
Bridger, and Hakon Stene, and graduated with outstanding honors. On January 26, 2016, Xiaochi, as both composer and performer, premiered his original Duo
Percussion Concerto "Light and Shadow" at the National Concert Hall in Taipei, earning unanimous acclaim. Subsequently, he continued to compose a series of music
for the Chinese orchestra and percussion, including "Rising Sun," "Hero," "Different Path," and "Strike East." These compositions showcase his profound musical
expertise and mastery of various musical styles.
